Our course were given an incredible oppertunity to collaborate with a number of advertising agencies to gain industry experience. I chose Walker Agency; an award-winning full service advertising and marketing agency in Bournemouth.
After showing us the ins and outs of their company while answering our questions about working within advertising, they then pitched a brief to us. The brief was to design a new brand for GP Batteries for their UK launch. Part of our brief was to find a way to highlight these batteries' unique selling point, which is that they are rechargeable and recyclable, as well as promote their giveaway of a free USB charger to the first 1 million customers who buy GP rechargeable batteries.
My team and I decided to create a playful advert focusing on the sound of clicks that battery-powered objects make when being switched on. Eventually having the 'song' of clicks come to an abrupt halt when a device's battery runs out. The next scene showing the batteries being recharged, then replaced back into the device, to then continue the rhythm of clicks. We used the song 'Electric Feel' by MGMT, which goes perfectly with the upbeat rhythm we intended and relates perfectly to the subject content of power/electricity from the GP batteries.
These were the storyboards that we came up with at the start of the project after our initial brainstorm as a group. We each drew one up, and eventually decided to go with our first idea - storyboard 1, which is the vision that we brought to life in our video.
